8th Members’ Meeting “Future of Japan’s plastic resource circulation”

2019年5月19日

Rapid strides have been made towards formulating “strategies of plastic resource circulation” in preparation for the G20 Osaka Summit to be held in June this year. Following the submission of an interim report in November last year and recommendations made to Minister of the Environment in March 2019, the plastic resource circulation strategies are expected to be officially drawn up by June.

While concrete objectives are set such as ‘reusing or recycling 60 percent of plastic packaging and containers by 2030, neither substantial definitions for these quantitative targets nor the roadmaps for achieving these goals are shown.

In this seminar, speakers will talk about the current state and recent trends regarding plastic resource circulation in and out of the country from the viewpoint of both industry and the government.

On the basis of the above, we expect to discuss together what will be needed for the future of our country’s plastic resource circulation in a wide perspective including reproduction technologies, social systems and legal institutions.
